A CASA-issued Low Level Rating allows the holder to conduct operations at altitudes below 500 feet above ground level (AGL) as long as there is a legitimate, valid requirement to do so.

Training takes approximately 5 hours (depending on student ability) and is typically conducted in a low-wing aircraft.

Requirement for the issue of a Low Level Rating:

  • Hold a Private Pilot Licence (PPL), Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL), or Air Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL)

  • Minimum of 5 hours of low level instruction

  • Pass the Low Level Rating flight test
